And like President Reagan Monty was attracted to the Republican party by its commitment to strong values, a strong defense and lower taxes. Today, New Mexico and the nation face great challenges. But none is too great with the right leadership in Washington representing the needs of the second congressional district. New Mexican’s must have confidence that their government is doing everything in its power to keep them safe and our country prosperous. This means supporting the traditional values and virtues that have made our nation great and allowed our economy to flourish. By limiting the size of government and reducing tax burdens, America can fulfill its promise of real opportunity and enable families to prosper. Monty Newman is the candidate who can provide the leadership we need to face the challenges of today and build a bright tomorrow.
Monty Newman understands that the best way for our economy to flourish is with a smaller and smarter government. We need less government, less regulation, the freedom for the capital markets to grow and rewards for those who plan for tomorrow. One of the first pieces of legislation that Monty Newman will introduce in Congress will reduce taxes on savings and investments, jump-starting the economy and encouraging and rewarding people who invest and save for the future.

Monty Newman knows that democracy is a precious commodity. Monty’s oldest son, Captain Ryan Newman, fought on the front lines in Iraq. Failure in Iraq will endanger America for generations to come. We must be committed as a nation to support every effort of our military and give them the tools and resources they need to win.
Monty Newman firmly believes that the United States must secure our borders. We must protect the people and the economy of our country from those who would do us harm. Border security is not just the entry and exit of people, but also screening of cargo at our ports and other entry points. Monty Newman does not support amnesty for those who have entered our country illegally.
